Travel to Barcelona by train: comfortable, sustainable and easy

Train to Barcelona

Barcelona, the city of Gaudí and the Sagrada Família, is the best-known city break destination in Spain. It offers a great mix of culture, architecture, Mediterranean atmosphere, delicious food and, for beach lovers, the sea. Visit Gaudí's colourful buildings such as Park Güell and Casa Batlló, explore the historic Gothic Quarter, stroll along La Rambla and unwind in one of the city parks or on the beach. With the beach just around the corner, Barcelona is a city and beach destination in one.

Think Barcelona is only easy to reach by plane? Think again. You can even travel from the Netherlands to Barcelona by train in a single day. Board the train to Paris in the morning in Amsterdam or Rotterdam, transfer from Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon, and travel straight through to Barcelona. With just one change, you reach Barcelona from the Netherlands while the Belgian and French landscapes glide past your window. The last stretch before the Spanish border is especially beautiful. From Belgium, you travel to Barcelona via Paris or Lyon, a journey of about 9 to 10 hours. Another option takes you around Paris, so you don't need to change stations there. Barcelona can also be reached by night train from Paris. Board the night train at Paris Austerlitz in the evening, have breakfast in Toulouse and continue to Barcelona with a change in Narbonne.
